ok, after a good meeting in the morning i am finally free to work on the jigsaw puzzle again. I've got to just finish this thing so at least i can say i've done something. I have been toying with the idea of taking a full time job, but i know it could be weeks or months before anything turns up. The
hermits don't think i should turn back to the dark side, but i need to make some more money before my wife will be convinced that i actually can make this work. Anyway, the hint of a PARTY has made me happy. I just have to think of a good cotume for this one. YES, i do have some time, and even though i really wanted to, I don't think i will resort to the "HELLO MY NAME IS: GOD" nametag cotume. Hmmm, what was i saying. Let the ratrace begin! Ok, now off to Gladstone's for lunch, then who knows where. I figure back to Pasadenya after that for a few hours, then back to hollywood to go see signs at the Chinese theater. Then after that is done off to Finn McCools in Santa Monica and then finally back home. So as a rough estimate of driving today i figure about 170 miles and about 3 hours on the road. FUN FUN FUN

So i didn't drive as much as i though i would, but very close. We decided yesterday to stay out on that side of town after lunch. EVERYBODY met at
Gladstone's in Malibu and ate there. Service sucked. What more can i say? So then we went back to Culver City to visit the Sony Lot (not really, just
pick up Will's car). Then off to Starbucks for our Cafe Late Enima, then off to Jon's beach house. So we sat around for a few hours and just screwed
around. Then BACK to hollywood. Now this is where things get fun. I know how to get from Manhattan Beach to Hollywood without using the freeway.
It's not a big deal, but you don't want to go near the 405 freeway at around 5 PM on a friday. I don't know how everybody else got there, but all i
can say is that WE all know the good routes. Will beat us all and made it in about 35 to 40 minutes. According to the timestamp on my parking stub
at the time of entry into Hollywood and Highland i was exactly 8 minutes behind Will and then Jon was about 5 minutes behind me. Jen was fuckin
COLD cause we thought that at some point we were going to go home and get something else to wear. So Jen got a nice new sweater from Banana
Repulic. Off to the movie.

This is HANDS DOWN the BEST MOVIE i have seen ALL YEAR. This is the only thing SPECIFIC about the movie. We saw it at the Chinese Theater and
it was digitally projected. There was a single frame that had a "glitch" in it. Will works doing QC on DVD's and I do a shitload of compression for web
media, and Jon does digital video and press kits. ALL OF US NOTICED. But after the movie we asked everybody else that was there, "did you see
that half screen of green digital static?"... nobody else every noticed. It's fuckin scary that people can look at a 70 foot wide screen filed with
STATIC and not see it. Well i guess it's just like the single frames of Mr. Durden. anyway.... back to the point. GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW!

After the movie we had to frequent the best fast food establishment on the west coast. Johnette (will's sister) was here for one night and when in
Texas she cannot partake of the fine "double double". So off to the hollywood In-N-Out for dinner. Fuck taking the cars out of the parking at
hollywood and highland, we'll just walk. Well after dinner we found ourselves stuck with $10 to $15 of parking fees. FUCK THAT. Anyway, not going
to go home yet. It's about 10:30 now after dinner and we are now off to Finn McCool's for the Hermits MANDATORY meeting. Best fuckin time i've
had in a long time. I just needed to get out of the house. And i think the few spins around the parking lot on Brian and Wendy's vespa did a lot for
me too. (i need to get one) So brian introdudced me to the "snake bite" and after a couple of them i was very very very happy. Everybody showed
up and we all hung til almost 2. Gotta do that again next week, well at least if i don't have a BBQ. So finally we get in the car to drive home and
thank god we waited so long, cause there is no traffic at all. Well that's the funny thing, i was worried about traffic at 2 AM. Sometimes they start
workin on freeways in the middle of the night and they block off all but one lane, and then you have the same problem as rush hour. Anyway, got
home and then FUCK.... Jen has gotten a letter from the School District she works in saying that they are look for 1st grade volenteer teachers to
move to another school in the district. If they don't get anyone, they will select one and move them. Check the answering machine and Kate is on it
saying ," Jen did you get a letter from the district?". Ok, so Jen freaks out. This is only the 2nd time in 2 weeks that she's had to deal with the
possibility of losing her classroom. So, off to bed... Jen can't sleep cause of the letter (and signs) and she wakes me up at 3 AM to tell me there is
something outside. Well, there is ALWAYS something outside. This time it was two drunk bums walking in the Metro Tracks area behind our house.
They had stopped for some reason and were arguing about shoes. So needless to say it was not some supernatural being, ET, the easter bunny, or
a raccoon, posum or rat. So we've got a set of sprinklers that point down the slope behind the house. They don't shoot very far, but the bums don't
know that and will move along very quickly if they think they are going to get wet. back to bed...

I destroyed my room today. The entire thing was fucked up since i left my last job and i finally got around to moving everything in to the place that
it should be. Jason, you will be happy to know that i finally got a 100 switch and my network actually works well now. i still have to hook up a few
things, but it will all be up and running soon. Webcam will be back in a few hours when i get around to it. And.... all of this so i could hang a piece of

Yikes! Def Leopard has a new CD! I don't know about everybody else, but i am SICK TO DEATH of all of these signs of the end of the world. I though that while i was growing up that when something happened that came as a sign as to the end of the world, THAT WAS IT. I figured, HOLY SHIT, have your fun, cause the end is coming. But instead... the end never came. So, now i feel like our lives, our culture, our world has all become the little fuckin kid who cries "WOLF". Over and Over and Over and Over i have seen the signs that the end MUST be coming. I thought for sure when the BeeGee's got back together that THAT was it, but.... nope. well maybe i should go to bed. I didn't do shit today, so as usual i am up all fuckin night preparing for a meeting the in the morning. I am actually suprised with the quality of work that i managed to pump out. I figured I was going to need a lot more caffeine. So the shit is almost done, and i only have another 2 weeks of work on the project before it's complete, so that's something to look forward to. I just know that once this is all done i'm gonna have to find something else to do.
On another note: I notice my Blog Hot or Not rating is slipping away from me. I knew a rating in the 9's wouldn't last forever, but you always hope. Who am i fuckin kidding though. I have no fuckin idea how bored a person would have to be to subject themselves to reading my fuckin blog. LOL i get bored writing it sometimes. Well i guess that comes with not taking yourself seriously.
I think i'll go to bed at 5am. That should give me enought time to sleep before i gotta get up at 9AM for clients. Then when they're gone i gotta take a nap. Gnight

I connected my Cieva again today after getting a new power supply. I was originally given the picture frame by Jen's Dad who had invested in the company. He had a geek over at cieva set up the account and then just gave the frame to us. SO... when we first got it there was an UNLIMITED account, that's right, we didn't have to pay shit. And now... it seems that they (cieva) have updated all the accounts and now it will no longer download any new images until i pay. Now i figured it wouldn't be that much, so when i saw the $119.99 fuckin pricetag i said \FUCK OFF\. So now i want to know if there is a hack for this frame. I mean there has got to be someone (who hasn't yet become....) out there who has figured out a way to patch this thing into a modem and just pass pictures to it from their own desktop computer. Right now as it is, you have to upload the images to cieva's web site, then your picture frame will dial in and download them from their servers. Now there has to be a way to trick the picture frame into thinking it's talking to the cieve server when it is really just taking to a modem and another computer in the room. Hmmmm, time for a little digging. And i really hate the fact that I only have 5 images on my frame right now, and i can't fuckin change them.

Ok Ok Ok, back to the ceiva. I just did a little test to see something. I had the frame manually dial in for an update. You hold the button on the back of the frame and in a few seconds it shows a little message, now dialing in... So then i just pick up a phone in my house and listen to what happens. After the dial in is complete, there is a STANDARD hardware handshake. Fuck, anybody who has ever used a modem knows what it sounds like. So now all i have to do is make something that fakes the dial tone so the frame will dial, than just produce a hardware handshake and i should get an open datapath. I think i can get the results i want using Macromedia Director. It will give me all the access i need to the modem controls on my computer and it should be able to modulate all the data that i need to pass once the connection has been made. The problem is i have to figure out what protocols the frame uses to pass the jpgs. I gotta go dig now. Somebody somewhere must know how the frame talks to the servers. Otherwise i might just have to record a few sessions and demodulate them. :) FUN FUN FUN

I am always sceptical of movie remakes. I figure, just leave well enough alone. But i have to admit also that some remakes have been done very well. I think it's all about the motivation behind making the movie. But that goes for ALL movies, remake or not. If you're in it for the "formula" of the money. Y - Z = X, where Y is the amount of money you spend on production, advertising, and payoff's etc, and Z = all the boxoffice, all the merchandise, all the videosales, all the payoffs. Well, you get the point. If it's all about "X", then you're making the movie for the wrong fuckin reasons. If you're making the movie cause you honestly think you can make a good movie, and even a better movie than the first version, then your intentions are good. BUT intentions will only start you off. If you just are a worthless director or producer, then you're fuckin doomed. Where is this all going you ask. Well, when i first heard news that "Red Dragon" was going to be remade, i felt sick. Not because i recalled the first, or recalled the truly evil parts of the book, but because i had a feeling that it was all about the money. Now that i have watched the trailer and i have looked at the primary players involved, i am no longer worried. I just hope they can not only make a better movie that the original Red Dragon, but better movie than Silence.

Today i spent a lot of time on the road. I went to a job interview out in westlake. All i can say is that it is quite a drive. After that i just worked on
Moviesnooze.
Jason was kind enough to get a new mysql
database up on the server that i could screw around with, and as soon as it was up i had some fun. I installed a php polls engine and a message
board script and got everything up and running. Then i just passed the admin info over to
Will to let him
set up the templates and all to make the stuff look good.
Tonight was fun. Jen and I went out to dinner at mijaries with John and Kate and then ran to 31 flavors for dessert. All in all it was a good day. I
just am supprised that i got so much done.

production team decided to cut a character for whatever reason, i usually just sit there and accept it. I have to admit i got pissed when Oz left Buffy,
but it didn't motivate me to any kind of action. When Kess was booted from voyager i wasn't that unhappy. Even when Dax got the Axe (hehe that
rhymes) from DS9 i didn't cry. Well, they did replace her with another hot chick... but that's besides the point. I do also watch Stargate, and it has

I get a call from my brother tonight. It's not too early and he's having trouble with his stero over at his new place. The problem he's having is he has no fuckin idea how to hook it up. :) Tech brother to the rescue. So Jen and I go over to there and soon enough my Parents show up too and it turns into a fucking party. Now here's the great part. My mom has gotten into the snake oil product that's a fuckin joke. I just ignore the fact that she's gotten into this cause a bunch of dumass people around town swear by the shit. It's called
Sea Silver. Now if you're into talking to crystals about your major life decisions then you'll probably love this shit, but me... fuck what i think. Let's just talk about what this shit did to my wife. So i'm behind a huge TV digging through cables and connecting speakers and i can hear everybody in the kitchen in the background. I just hear, "you're suppost to hold it under your tounge for 30 seconds at least, or til you can't take it anymore." Just a fuckin minute. WTF? I pop my head out and see everybody with this bottle. Jen gets talked into it and i didn't even notice that she was taking it. I work on the stero for a about 20 minutes more. (i had to drill holes to feed cable to the surround speakers) Then we talk for a few more minutes and then bail for the night. As soon as Jen and I get in the car and start home she says, "I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT SHIT IS, BUT IT FUCKED ME UP!!!" then she asks if i noticed that she disappeared for awhile while we were there. I was workin on the stero so i didn't notice. I guess she took this shit and held it under her tounge like everybody else while everybody is ranting about how they take it 3 times a day and they feel so great. Jen begins to feel wierd. She starts to get a ringing in her ears then she claimed that she couldn't hear very well. She basically feels light-headed and has to spend the next 30 minutes in the bathroom feeling like she is going to vomit. Now i'd just like to thank my family for pressuring my wife to take some shit that is probably just a bunch of weeds from some guys fuckin backyard. I should know better and not leave her alone with the rest of my family. :) Well on a good note, the stero works.

I failed to tell everybody yesterday that we got to Fangoria and it was SOLD OUT. We checked everything on the web site and even when we got there they had just announced that there were not more tickets. Damn, i am up again. It's only 3 AM and i am finally done with my shit. I feel like shit cause i left Will hanging tonight in the middle of a windows XP install. He's having some trouble with his 20GB hard drive. I had him build a boot disk, do the normal FDisk shit and get the drive all ready. Then the XP installer just says the drive is corrupt and can't do anything about it. I have no fuckin idea what's up. I should just stick to the OS's that i really know well, but Will needed my help. So.... i guess this is a cry for help to all the people out there. Does anybody have any idea what might be going wrong. BTW Will has used both FDisk and the XP installer to create the partitions. in both cases it didn't fuckin help. I gotta go to bed. I really hate going to sleep thinking about Windoze installs. It just makes all your dreams come out like shit.

So i went over to
Epic today to help george with his digital sprite video system again. I finally got the thing fuckin working with the firewall i've got there. But that's not the point. I hear from Ally that my brother missed his flight. I pause for a second and think... No shit, he's going up this weekend to Santa Cruz for a wedding. Vera got sick so she's staying home and my brother was gonna fly. My parents are going too. it's funny, i'm the only one in the family that wasn't invited to the wedding, i guess i am the fucked up one :) So anyway, my parents started driving early and my brother started to drive up there after he missed his flight. So what do you think happens? My parents get a flat in their new car and are stuck by the side of the road. Who pulls over to help them? HEHEHEH that's right, nonother that my bro. Life is just too fuckin funny.
So george and i are doing a photo shoot on Sunday ALL DAY for the epic site. We've gotta get a bunch of product shots on people in cool settings, so I figured i needed a new camera. jen's away, so i spent WAY TOO MUCH money. But i did find a camera open box. I got the Fuji FinePix 2800Zoom. it's 2megapixel, so just fine for what i want to do with it. It's small too, so i really like it. I got the 128MB smartchip for it (DUH) cause i need to shoot a whole lot of shit. So.... coming soon.... MORE SHOTS of ME.

I got really trashed at the birthday party last night and had to get up today to go on a photo shoot for Epic. I got my hung over ass out of bed at 6:30 AM and was over ready to shoot at 7AM. George shot most of the shit and i just did basic lighting. He has most of the kids who work at the shop showing off their modeling skillz. All in all we got a dumpload of great shots for the web site and i had an excuse to get behind a camera again. It was way too early to get up, but when you see the shots its all worth it.

Why do i always say monday's suck? Well cause i think it doesn't matter what you do, they just always end up like shit. I started the day off good with a meeting with Glenn and Jack. All the stuff we're working on is falling into place and it will all be done on friday. But then that was it. I didn't do shit the rest of the day. Yesterday i had more done before 9AM and today... ZOT! NOTHING! NADA. Even all the shit that i worked on last night (and yet, it was after midnight, so technically it WAS monday) got killed from the presentation. Glenn wrote the stuff right out of the demo. So... the stuff that i did get done (on monday) still wasn't worth shit. I tried to play a little Jedi Knight 2, but i got fed up. I installed everything right and found that the video sequences would not work at all. The game worked ok, but every time i hit a cut scene it would crap out on me. I uninstalled it and ended up screwing around with my video card. So.... that was just a bad idea. On a windows box, rule number one is: if something is working... DON'T FUCK WITH IT. Well, i ended up with my second monitor hooked up cause i somehow activated the secondary video card and made it the primary. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but i had to drag the fuckin thing out of the closet. after i got the other monitor working i kinda liked the dual setup on my windows box. It made me feel more like it was a mac. Well, 4 restarts later i finally had the right drivers and color settings installed. Fuck what a pain. So, on the last restart, windows boots with the monitors both displaying 16 colors. I raise an eyebrow and remember that i should be trying to do some work. SO what do i do? I start to talk to Jason about Blogger. and before 10 minutes have gone by i am building a blogger site just to check out the interface etc. So... NOW.... it's 10:30 at night and jason just sent me a link.
Play-Create. There are a small number of TYPES of links that Jason sends me. [porn,geek,trek,tech,funny,depressing]. This one falls into the depressing category. I just have to say that these guys are doing some really simple, but really cool stuff with Shockwave. I've been sitting on my ass for too long, and today is a perfect example. I need to build something. Not something HUGE, but just something that's a simple exercise of kung fu. well, i guess the night is still young. I just think i will wait until after midnight so i can continue to complain about mondays.

You know, Halloween is coming up. And i think i need a good costume. Well, i was thinking about (and i know i already said this) wearing a "Hello My Name Is" sticker with "GOD" on it. (yes, it was originally done by seth green on buffy the vampire slayer) But it seems that i have found a better solution to my costume dilema.

Ok, now i am going to sound like a real fuckin geek here. I am really pissed off. I have a normal schedule that i keep and it usually includes taking a break at midnight to watch an episode of Star Trek Voyager. So i am a little late turning on the TV tonight and i find a episode of "Shipmates" on. Holy Fuckin Christ! So i look at the clock and for a second i wonder if the batteries are dead and it's really slow or something or.... well, i check TV guide. I can't fuckin believe it. Trek has been moved back to a 3AM time slot. It's actually on AFTER informercials!!! This sucks. I didn't even expect it to be a good episode, just something to take my mind of code for an hour. Fuck and there is no way i am going to start taking my break at 3AM!!! That's usually when i really get going.

Last night was a very very very long night working on stuff for Glenn. I am really happy though. I've gotten through about 90% of the work i have to get done by friday and Glenn is coming in a few minutes expecting only 50%. So i should make him happy. Also it will give me time to play golf on Thursday night.
Anyway, last night John and Will organized a trip to Dominico's. Last week we tried to go and they were closed for their "summer vacation", so this week, the guys were craving pizza. Kate and Jen joined us for the dinner of WAY TOO MUCH FOOD. But that's the way it always is. You order small sizes of everything and then you still get too much to eat in one sitting.
Working last night i did get to flip on Voyager at 3AM. But i have to admit. Usually when there was a BAD episode on at midnight, it wasn't a big deal. You just flipped a few channels and something else was on to watch. Now it's either Voyager or paid programming. Yes i know the comments are coming. I'm gonna get cable.

I need an action figure shelf. I just realized that i have all these action figures sitting all over my damn house. I've got a shitload of Star Wars figures that i never opened. YES, i am a dumbass, and i know they won't ever be worth anything. But i've also got a bunch of anime figures and just general cool shit. I need to put all the stuff up on the wall. I think i'll go out later to IkeA or some place and see if i can buy crappy shelves.

I don't know about everybody else, but i'm gonna turn my TV off on september 9th and unplug it. And i don't think i'm gonna plug it back in til the 12th. I just don't think that anybody needs to pay their respect to the nation and the dead by sitting on their ass in front of the fuckin TV. Who's with me?
