I love watching GOOD basketball. Kevin Garnette helped make that possible. I am very glad that the Lakers
fans at staples tonight gave him a good cheer as he went to the bench at the end of the game. Well bring on
the Spurs. And then the Queens.

X-Men United this weekend was all that i hoped for. Well everything BUT a foucus on one or two of the X-Men.
Ebert and Roper both gave it thumbs up, but said that they wish instead they would make these more of an
adventure of 2 or 3 of the X and then do another one quickly. They laughed at the fact they knocked out one
characters for over an hour of the film so that they could give more screen time to the rest. Well i agree. The
FX are great the action sequences are great, but Brian Singer seems to pace things a little. As far as acting
goes... Its X-men! Did you expect an oscar award winning performance here? There isn't time. You've got a
few oscar award winners and a few more that can do a great job. They just don't get the opportunity. I guess
my biggest complaint is that its spread too thin. There are too many characters to cover, and there is not
enough time. Marvel knew what to do when there was a demand for one character story line. They'd make a
spin off comic or pop characters into other other story lines. They should not plan on this being a X-men
"trilogy". There needs to be 4 or 5 or more of these movies to cover everything that is going on. Don't worry, I
am not saying this movie is BAD. Its actually the opposite. I wish it was the same movie, only about 4 hours.
That way you could spend a little time in the "first half" of the movie. There's more character development of
they guys you know, introduction to a few new characters, and a lot more mystery of what exactly is going on.
If they could have done that for 2 hours i would have been happy.
The Chinese Theater is always the place to see a movie also. I've said it before and i'll say it again. A movie
theater can have the BEST sound system in the world, but it doesn't matter if they don't turn it up. The
Chinese has no problem with blasting the sound. Ok, time to make the one complaint. They need to have
assigned seating. The arclight does it. But i do understand why. If you have 1000 people waiting in line 12
hours for a movie you draw a lot of attention. You get media coverage and you also have those 1000 people
buying crap from you and all the businesses around you. i just have tickets for the Matrix and i am designated
LINE BOY. Oh well. I'll bring my Game Boy Advance, my MP3 player and a book.
And now back to the little side project
I gotta say third time is a charm. I've broken the last two attempts to cast a concrete mold. I built the last one
a little better than the first, but it still broke the cast at it was setting. The wood inside cracked the concrete as
it swelled. So this time i got it right. I used two blocks of styrofoam to create the inside of the cast. This way
there would be no swelling. Well i got it right. I finally got one of the casts out in one piece. Now i just need to
build the rest of the fountain. Oh, forgot to say that. I'm not JUST making a block of concrete. I actually was
trying to make something useful.

Holy Shit! There was a triple murder in the building Jen and I used to live in!
Here's the
story

I think its about time to show you what months of work has finally built. If you've been reading you know that
i've been screwing around with concrete a WHOLE LOT. Well i finally put the final piece together yesterday. It
needs a little more work to seal the basin completely, but it works nicely.

long weekend. so much happened. Ok quick rundown. Saturday was all about movies. hung out with Will and Grover and ended up seeing
new suit. It was not bad, but not the greatest movie ever made, just plain and simple. Then Will and I drove Grover back to his place and decided to go into hollywood. Stopped by the grove and checked out the apple store. I had never been there before. Then we ran up to Tower Records/Video on Sunset to browse some movies. Will bought a few and we made the trip back to my house to watch "catch me if you can". Now this one is great. So it became a late night. The movie finished up around 2AM and Will and I talked til a little later.
Today went to breakfast at Jen's parent's for Mother's day. Then her parents went to a play while Jen and I headed back home. I watched the Lakers game while Jen caught up on a little sleep. She had been up in Santa Barbera for a little bachlorette party, so she needed to catch up on sleep. So Lakers are doing good. Shaw's buzzer beater at the end of the 2nd was too hard to believe. The official actually had to watch the video frame by frame to tell that Shaw got rid of the ball before the buzzer sounded. There was literally ONE FRAME difference between when the ball was in his hands and when the red lights in the backboard light up showing the end of the quarter. Anyway, at the end of the game, Kobe earned his money by stealing an inbound pass and basically finishing off the Spurs. After the game Jen and I went to my Parent's house for the HUGE mother's day BBQ. OMFG! Everybody was there and it ended up turning into another badminton tournament. I have not done that much physical work in 6 months. Food was great and it was great to hang out with everybody. I am going to sleep very well tonight after the workout i got.
Thursday May 15th 2003 12:48 PM PST
ok, 5 hours in line in hollywood. was it worth it? HELL YES! The motorcycle stunt show before the movie was
a joke, but that's where the SUCK stopped. The crowd was fuckin great. Everybody was into the movie, and as
always, the Chinese theater turned up the volume to " ear-shattering". The story is a little more complex than
before and i must say there is a lot going on, but then again we don't have to wait 6 more years to see how this
one turns out.
FX were fuckin great! Fight scenes were everything that i wanted. The explanation of the little details of the
matrix were a little long, but i was glad they did it and got it out in the open. There was a little obscurity about
choice and fate, but i am over it. There were about 15 people that did not know the Revolutions teaser was at
the end of the credits. So i wonder what these people were thinking when they were the only people in front of
the theater. Were they thinking, "great we don't have to fight the crowds to validate our parking" or "are we
missing something? did we see a movie with 1500 film freaks that all watch the credits?" So... long and the
short of it is. I think it was worth the wait.

So there's nothing worse than trying to watch the Lakers and having ABC just FUCK it up. I don't know about
everybody else, but when i turn the TV on to watch a basketball game, i want to actually see basketball. ABC
doesn't think so. They cut away from the game not only at time outs, but they'll start talking to people in the
stands DURING THE GAME. Pete Sampris is trying to actually watch the game in his VERY EXPENSIVE seats,
and they put a fuckin camera in his face asking him about how he thinks the game is being played. FUCK! He's
a tennis player! Get back to the fuckin game! A shot will be made and suddenly the director thinks its a great
time to do a little tour of the crowd. And the greatest of all of ABC's weapons against BASKETBALL is "FREE
FLIGHT". Just when you thought you could watch the game, they cut to a camera that's as far from the court
as you could possibly get. There's a reason the seats AT THE TOP OF AN ARENA are dirt cheap! THEY SUCK!
Why the fuck would you want to broadcast the game from that point of view! Well all i can say is ABC sucks.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I hate Disney. I don't know when it started, but over the years I have
gone from a person who did not mind the things Disney does, to a person NOW who is appalled by most of the
things they do. So to top it all off this gets sent to me today by Jon.
Self Destructing DVD. Like i
said, i don't know about the rest of you, but i think the last fuckin thing this world needs right now is another
completely disposable product. Disney is doing nothing more than contributing to a larger amount of trash.
People are going to buy and rent DVD's with or without this product. But with this product it all ends up in the
garbage.

A couple days ago LA Metro workers blew the power on my side of the street and it was out for a few hours.
Two hours ago, they were fuckin around with the power in my neighborhood AGAIN. So nice to give anybody
notice or anything like that. So when a nice little power drop blows through my neighborhood today it took my
old G3 server with it. I've got a really old SCSI drive as the primary boot disc and i think it finally took a shit.
Lucky for me ALL MY FUCKIN WORK IS ON IT! the answer to the stupid question is YES, i do backup data. The
last backup i did on that drive was a month ago. Lets just say i've put hundreds of hours of work into a few
projects that are now GONE and have to be reprogrammed. Well that's unless i can get Norton Utilities to
perform a fuckin miracle.
Friday May 16th 2003 11:03 PM PST
So i screwed around with a new copy of Norton Utilities for about an hour. I keep running into a error message
every time i try to do anything with the disk. This has started to lead me to believe that its more than just data
corruption. I think either the SCSI controller card has taken a dump or the drive itself is physically screwed.
Well either way i am looking at recoding two client projects. One of em only took about 20 hours and I have
much of the temple code that i'll need to rebuild it. The other project... I've got a version of the site from a few
weeks ago, but the changes that i have made since then are substantial. I am not happy about having to redo
all this code, but in the long run i think it will be a better piece of code. anyway the web cam is going to be
down for awhile cause i used to serve it off of the server that just took a shit. Well at least i kept my contact
database backed up on another mySQL database. Well after I am all done with this i am going to build a little
cron module that will do automatic backups for me every night. Its just sad that i have multiple servers and I
didn't do it earlier.
Saturday May 17th 2003 11:53 AM PST
Ok, so norton was having trouble. But i think it was the MBD of the disc. I took a chance early today as a last
ditch effort. I opened up disc tools and hit ERASE on the disc. I know that it doesn't actually ZERO all the data,
all it does it blow out the partition information and the MDB (master directory block). So after i did that i had a
nice clean 9GM disc. THEN i popped in Norton and tried again. Well lucky for me it worked. Now i can use the
unerase functions of Norton without getting a error. And now its just a matter of doing disc surface searches to
find all the shit that i really need. I am so glad that PHP is not a complied language. I can actually search for
strings of code that i know are specific to one project that i am working on. If it was complied i would be up shit
creek.
Still crossing my fingers
Saturday May 17th 2003 11:57 AM PST
DAMN! i've only gotten 10% of the disc search done, and its already pulled 2,300 result pages. I think i am
going to have to refine my search a little more.
Saturday May 17th 2003 06:58 PM PST
After doing HUGE text search passes on my entire drive i have finnally gotten about 5000 files that are more
what i am looking for. I've then taken those files and done more specific searches on them to piece together
the project. Its only taken me a few hours, but i've recovered weeks of work and pieced it back together.
Norton was worth the $100. now i just need to build a backup system that will protect me from this shit.
Sunday May 18th 2003 10:55 AM PST
Jen and I have had a message on our machine for a long while now. We actually have not erased any
messages on the machine cause we want to say that one. Yes we have an old POS machine that still uses a
tape. Anyway, i finally got around to re-recording the message and now i think its time it made an apperance
here.
Not Making the Cut.

So i went out last night to drop something off at my parents house and when i got back i had a little friend
waiting for me. i start to walk up the sidewalk next to my apartment, and about 5 feet in front of me there is a
racoon. He just sits there looking at me trying to figure out what i am going to do and i stop just to look at him.
So we both stand there for about 5 minutes not moving. He's got no real way out if he turns and runs from me
and i finally have no choice than to back off and then try to get him to walk toward me. So that takes a few
more minutes, but the entire time he's very calm but keeps an eye on me. So finally he makes it down the
walkway onto the front lawn and disappears. I walk back into the house and then it all makes sense. I've had
to be filling the fountain every couple days cause for some reason it just gets really low overnight. Its not a
leak, but overnight it will just get emptied. However unlikely, it might just be this racoon taking a drink. So
now i gotta set up a camera on the fountain and see if i'm right.
Thursday May 22nd 2003 09:16 AM PST
Oh, i totally forgot. The only reason i am up right now is cause my
house was shaking. The really fuckin crazy part is that this one
looks like it might be on the fault UNDER the NEW San Marino High School. (and a block away from my
parent's house for that matter)
