I've found that when you need to kick a bad addiction, the best way is to replace it with another addiction. The trick is to replace the "BAD" addiction with something that's "NOT SO BAD". The lesser to two evils really.

that's really how i quit smoking. I just replaced one drug for another. I never had consumed so much caffeine on a daily basis than when i quit.

So i've done it again. this time with Warcraft. Yes I've finally realized that there is a replacement for complete immersion into a fantasy game. You simply completely immerse yourself into a book. I feel stupid saying it.

Jen and I started by reading Changeling (Delia Sherman) to Paige aloud. When that was done I started reading Jumper (Steven Gould) aloud and then reading ahead during the day.

so now i've not played WOW in about a week or so, and I've got a stack of old books ready to be read again.

First on the list is johnny mnemonic and mona lisa overdrive..

update.... well already finished Johnny while i took a break in writing the entry.

I somehow don't know if Jen will like me reading overdrive aloud to Paige. We'll find out tonight.

"The only reason why gold is expensive is because we all agree that it is. There's no real use for it, except we all agree and abide by the idea that gold costs a certain amount per ounce. As soon as you give people the choice to deviate from it, you have chaos and anarchy. And that's what going on."

--Gene Simmons

I was going to write some long rant about how Gene Simmons is an idiot, but it looks like he went and did the work for me.

uses for gold

UPDATE:

I actually have found a completely USELESS USE (if that makes any sense) for GOLD!
