There is nothing quite like a dooley. HUGE truck, with 4 wheels on the back instead of 2. The whole idea is you get more
surface wheel area on the ground so the truck has more traction and towing power. Usually these things are fuckin massive.
The SUV version of a 16 wheeler. And don't think they stop on a dime or are maneuverable at all. So as i'm moving down the
marina del rey freeway, i notice this HUGE fuckin thing getting on the freeway via the 405 onramp. I'm going fast, and he's
going fast, but i'm not worried, cause he's 4 lanes away from me. Well dumbfuck driving this piece of shit doesnt want to stay
in his lane at the left. He doesnt want to be in any other lane besides the one on the right. And why shouldn't he be? HE's
going fast, he deserves is right? So no signal, no warning, other than the fact that i always watch people in big fuckin monster
trucks. So he crosses over the first lane, the second lane the 3rd lane, and remember i'm seeing this out of my passenger side
window. He's DIRECTLY next to me. AND COMING RIGHT FOR ME. So at this point, i'm not a fuckin dumbass. This is not
about being macho and standing my ground. This guy honestly is not even looking. He's not trying to muscle me out of the
way. SO i bail. There's nobody anywhere behind me. I know cause i checked the mirrors, looked over the shoulder AND THEN
EVEN SIGNALED. Albeit in 1.5 seconds before i got out of the fuckin way. I had to slam on my brakes to get behind him and
then instantly get over a lane to avoid rear ending him. I've got a little more speed on him and it carries me next to him
slowly. When i'm directly to his right i can't even see the driver cause he's sitting up about 5 feet. And i don't think at this
point he's even noticed that i've been driving to avoid him at all. So I take my time to pull in front of him and very politely give
him the finger. The really sad part about all this encounter is that dooley driver probably was so clueless that he had no idea
why i was saluting him. Even more sad was that i spent my time giving the finger and not taking a picture of him. I didnt get
the shot until the stoplight at the end of the freeway.

I had a great night Friday night. Jen and I joined Jen's father and brother for dinner. He took up some place we'd never been
on Green street in pasadena. Maison Akira. Very very upscale, but incredible food. The service was unbelieveable. We actually
thought that they were working off a stopwatch. Every course was delivered more than 15 seconds behind the previous one.
Jen and her brother both had steaks, Jens father had fish (i can't remember what) and i had tuna. We all had a great time and
headed home early where Jen and I promptly passed out. We both woke up at about 1 and could not go back to sleep. I got
up and played video games til 4:30 and Jen read a book.
Saturday we didn't do anything. we just bummed around all day and were lazy.
Sunday we decided to find a new Deli in the area. We drove by one place that i located online, but they were closed. We
headed to the Munch Company instead. I had located them online as well. Its a little place on mission a couple doors down
from busters and the railroad tracks. Decent sandwiches, but nothing close to Anthony's. We took the food home and sat and
ate. We tried to relax and be happy the rest of the night.

Yesterday i was driving home, and as i was coming to a stop on the freeway, i saw a small puff of smoke or steam or something
appear from under the front edge of the hood of my car. I quickly became attentive of the smoke, but as quickly as it appeared
it was gone. So i kept an eye on it for the rest of the drive home. Nothing. When i got home, i popped the hood and took a
look. It was already dark, so i don't know exactly what i was looking for in the dark. But obviously i didn't find it. So today i
got on the road and everything was fine until i got off the 10 heading towards Adams. The smoke, now i realize is really steam,
or more to the point, coolant that's burning or boiling off. So i quickly eye my temperature gage. Its on the move, and not in
the direction that i want. So i'm a block away from a gas station. I pull in and stop the engine. The steam from the hood is
now much more visible, but the engine temperature is NOT overheating just yet. Turning the engine off got it just before
everything went to shit. Now i get under the hood. There's coolant sprayed all over the inside of the hood, and its dripping on
the outside of the car. Now that i'm looking at everything under the hood in the light of day, i can't miss the HUGE FUCKIN
CRACK in my radiator that i now spewing boiling hot coolant. So i buy a full bottle of coolant and wait a couple minutes to pour
it into the now empty radiator. I get a HUGE bottle that will fill the radiator a few times if necessary. That way i can get to
work and get home, and then get to Hock's Honda in Alhambra so i can get the fuckin thing fixed. Well its friday.
and things are getting worse...

i topped off the radiator with coolant, and picked up a few extra bottles at the gas station before i got on the road home. I just took it easy on the car, and it never gave me a problem. it really helped that it was cloudy and cold.
Jen and David were waiting when i got home. We headed out to Carmine's for grub. They no longer have foster's on tap, so i ended up getting a Guniess. I had said to the guy give me a large fosters, so when i changed it to a guiness, he brought a large one. the thing easily was 2 and a half pints.

after dinner last night i ran over to blockbuster to grab a few movies. They didn't have jackass the movie, but they did have Jackass Volume 2. I grabbed that and Lost in Translastion. Yes, quite a combination. On my way out i passed the video game section, which is now right up front. The tony Hawk Underground 2 guide was right in front of my face calling to me. So i picked it up and opened to a couple level maps. As soon as i saw how much cool stuff was actually in this i had to pick it up. So I ran back home and popped in Jackass for David to watch. He almost died laughing. The volume 2 disc opens up with Johnny getting kicked repeatedly in the nutt by little kids. David was lauging the rest of the night.

So i busted my as all week long. I was scheduled to work on 2 projects. One project was only scheduled for 2 hours on
monday, and then ALL of the rest of the week was scheduled for the other project. Well, lets just put it this way. The first 2
hour project took more like 12 hours, and the other project still needed the rest of the week. So i found myself working on
everything during the night to catch up. THEN, if these 2 projects weren't enough to kill me, i also had to do all the little side
jobs. So i ended up doing final database and php setup on an ecard, a couple little banner animations, a last minute
screensaver, and i'm sure i'm missing something else. BUT at the end of the day friday, all the clients are happy. So when it
really comes down to it, as long as they're smiling, i'm in the clear.
But then on top of it all, Will called me up and asked me if i wanted to go to a Lakers Preseason game on Friday. This was the
perfect end to the week. So after the final meeting on Friday where one client was looking at one piece of work, i bailed and
got on the road. I got home about 7 and the tip off is at 7:30. There was no fuckin way i was getting back on LA roads after
just being on them for an hour. Besides. The parking fee alone at Staples is $20. So Jen and I hopped on the train and were
there in about 35 minutes. We got some food and headed for the seats. Will and Dave (cookie) were in the other 2 seats.
(BTW thanks again Liz for letting all of us have them) So the game was a perftect ending to the week. It was very relaxed and a very good time. Lakers played well and there was even the ejection of Chris Mihm, which i thought was a bullshit ejection. It did however add a little drama to the game.
After the game we caught a ride with Will and Dave back out to burbank. We dropped off Dave at his car where he had left it at work, and Jen Will and I headed for BJ's in burbank. We had a bite to eat and then headed home.

so i've been playing X-men Legends non stop. I've pulled all my characters over level 35 and i've just defeated Shadow King. So now i've got every character unlocked and i guess i'm approaching the end of the game.
I think Jen's about to kill me cause i'm playing it so much. I didnt really move all that far from the bed and TV today. Jen was up at 9 and went to the store. We did laundry all day long and then cooked dinner. Meanwhile i slept in, played xmen, took a 3 hour nap, played xmen, made mashed potatos, and ate dinner. Now i think i'm gonna get back to the game. Yes i am truely a lazy ass. But then again, i need to just flip off my brain over the weekend. I need to be rested so i can back to banner production, screen savers, and translating print catalogs into websites. :)

Oh, and i need a fuckin haircut. right now i'm sporting the Dragonball Z look
Sunday October 24th 2004 10:31 PM PST
Ok, i'm on a rampage here to catch up on the weekend.
Saturday Jen and I went and walked around at the Huntington. We immediatly head off the NORMAL path where everybody walks and take a beeline for the Rainforest path. The path head is not marked at all, so you just need to know where the hell to go. If you enter the grounds and walk through the entrance, you will walk down 2 flights of stairs before you can turn left or right on a little path. Don't take either. Instead go diagonally to your right. If you're a military minded person, this is about the 1:30 position. This will take you right under a HUGE oak tree and directly across the lawn in front of the Main Gallery. There is a treeline directly in front of you, and if you look closely there is a path leading down into the rainforset area of the gardens. People will come OUT of this path, so you might be able to spot it from a distance.
Jen and i headed that way and then all the way south past the lower ponds and then finally to the south road. We took this all the way around the perimiter of the grounds, which leads you back north eventualy past the Japaneese gardens and the Chinesse gardens. Well, its not a chinese gardens YET. After the rain, its really just a duck pond. Jen and I spent the most time just counting the ducks. The area that they're making into the garden has a natural depression in the center, which will eventually be made into a large pond, but after the rain it always fills up. The area has not been cleared much, so all that is in the area are california live oaks and brush. The area is a very well preserved california habitat. Jen and I were really amazed at how many ducks had settled in.
We got home after the huntington and decided that we didn't want to cook dinner. We headed out to Hamburger Halmet, and then down to Tower Records. On our way in, we actually walked into Good Guys and (wait for it) we bought a new phone and answering machine. So don't get your hopes up. We'll still not call you back. We'll just be able to delete your message a whole lot easier. So we then went up to tower and grabbed donnie darko and eternal sunshine. Both movies have come highly recommended. Somebody awhile ago said that i remined them of the character from Donnie Darko. Now seeing the movie, i'm confused as to WHICH character they meant. Was it Donnie? Who is fucked in the head. OR was it Frank, who is a guy in a FUCKIN BUNNY SUIT! So i think either way, this person actually was insulting me. I just wish i can remember who the hell had said it.
The movie was great other than i was trying to identifiy with one of the characters the entire movie, because of the "reminds me of" comment. I think i have to watch it a few more times to really let everything sink in. Well if nothing else, it makes me really want to get tickets to tears for fears next month.
So today Jen and I actually tried to sit down and watch Eternal Sunshine. Well it didn't work. If you know Jen you know that she can't sit and watch a movie that has awkward situations in it. People in uncomfortable situations will always set her into motion to do something like go into the kicten and start to clean. So long story short... i went back to playing Xmen and i'll watch the movie some other time.

I finished X-Men Legends last night. The last level was a bitch, but i finally made it after a huge amount of saves and
team changes. And now after all that time spent playing, I'M DONE. So Jen's gonna be happy, cause i won't be playing video
games all the time for awhile... Oh, (koga just informed me) Grand Theft Auto San Andreas came out today. Oh well, i guess
i'm a slave to the PS2 for awhile longer.

Its funny how i screwed around with one little piece of math yesterday and couldn't figure it out. I was under a tight deadline and i had 4 different things to work on. But this ONE thing, i couldn't make it work. (in flash) Draw a thick line between two points, and continually follow the mouse as if is painting a line. Well you can't use a line thickness and just do it that way. That's because the line is actually a mask and will reveal another layer of artwork. So i need to calculate the angle of the line being drawn, and then draw a outline of the shape mathematically. So i sturggled with it yesterday and did a half ass job because i was under pressure to just get it done. So todayi go back to the code to update it. It needs to be done RIGHT this time. So in about 20 minutes i rewrite the entire thing.
Well i guess it helps that i'm sitting at home with my music playing loud and nothing to disturb me.
