I start to dig and realize that they started shooting this back in march!!! Ok, the closet buffy fan must now say THANK GOD JOSS IS DOING MORE BEYOND BUFFY AND ANGEL!!!

Actually, regarding Firefly, Fox rejected the pilot episode that Joss wrote and directed, saying it didn't have enough action, so Joss shot another episode that was more to their liking, which will air as the first episode. And that two-hour pilot will eventually air later in the season. Given Fox's past track record with space shows (Space: Above and Beyond, which got really damn good towards the end of its one-season run), I don't expect this one to last beyond one season either. But who knows, Star Trek started off with NBC rejecting Gene Roddenberry's initial pilot episode, so who knows? But then again, this is Fox, a network that has cancelled many great shows in the past and aired shows that should never been green-lit in the first place. UGH. I just remember talking to Joss at Metro Entertainment in Santa Barbara earlier this year (it was kinda surreal seeing him anonymously checking out the latest comics while a few of the Buffy and Angel stars were signing autographs near the front of the store) and I pointed out to him just how badly-treated The Tick was on Fox and he agreed, saying that he was going to make sure that Firefly doesn't get "Tick-ed." We shall see I suppose.

BTW, Dave, check out Slayage... it's updated regularly (with Buffy and Firefly news and spoilers so watch out): www.slayage.com The news item posted on the 14th about Nick, Alyson, James, Michelle, Joss, and Marti attending a Behind the Scenes of Buffy panel sounds awesome, but you have to be a member of the Academy (or know someone who is) to get in. UGH.
