OK, i have two friends in the Windy City. One of them is PUNK, and the is a DJ's. So, when the DJ's sends me something is always has something to do with Rave Culture or Clubs or whatever, but this time it's kinda scary. There is a Bill being proposed to Congress called the

`Reducing Americans' Vulnerability to Ecstasy Act of 2002' or the `RAVE Act'.

The beginning of the Bill reads like this

"To prohibit an individual from knowingly opening, maintaining, managing, controlling, renting, leasing, making available for use, or profiting from any place for the purpose of manufacturing, distributing, or using any controlled substance, and for other purposes. "

Just one question, if you leave out all the stuff in the middle... and limit it to just ONE of the options...

To prohibit an individual from knowingly managing any place for the purpose of using any controlled substance, (that's what they are trying to get at, right?) and for other purposes. "

Then what does "and for other purposes." MEAN?

Well, i think i found the other purpose.

"SEC. 7. AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS FOR A DEMAND REDUCTION COORDINATOR.
There is authorized to be appropriated $5,900,000 to the Drug Enforcement Administration of the Department of Justice for the hiring of a special agent in each State to serve as a Demand Reduction Coordinator."

So let me get this... Congress wants to piss away 5.9 Million to hire 50 people that check out their own state? I guess what offends me is that they had to come up with such a bad job title for these people. "Demand Reduction Coordinator". Cmon this is not going to do anything. You could throw 5.9 million at California ALONE and not make a dent in the "Demand". This Bill may have "good intentions", but to call it the RAVE ACT and then in the first sections of the bill really villianize promoters is a fuckin joke. anyway, make your own decision. go HERE and search for "S.2633".
