I am always sceptical of movie remakes. I figure, just leave well enough alone. But i have to admit also that some remakes have been done very well. I think it's all about the motivation behind making the movie. But that goes for ALL movies, remake or not. If you're in it for the "formula" of the money. Y - Z = X, where Y is the amount of money you spend on production, advertising, and payoff's etc, and Z = all the boxoffice, all the merchandise, all the videosales, all the payoffs. Well, you get the point. If it's all about "X", then you're making the movie for the wrong fuckin reasons. If you're making the movie cause you honestly think you can make a good movie, and even a better movie than the first version, then your intentions are good. BUT intentions will only start you off. If you just are a worthless director or producer, then you're fuckin doomed. Where is this all going you ask. Well, when i first heard news that "Red Dragon" was going to be remade, i felt sick. Not because i recalled the first, or recalled the truly evil parts of the book, but because i had a feeling that it was all about the money. Now that i have watched the trailer and i have looked at the primary players involved, i am no longer worried. I just hope they can not only make a better movie that the original Red Dragon, but better movie than Silence.

In case you guys hadn't noticed they have Brett Ratner directing "Red Dragon". That's right, they have the guy who directed the "Rush Hour" movies directing this one. And the word I've heard from people who've seen parts of it is that its crappy, so don't get your hopes up. Its fucking pointless as hell for them to remake such an incredible movie as "Manhunter" just because they want to do it with Anthony Hopkins playing Hannibal Lecter, and so they can cash in on all the people that never saw "Manhunter". "Manhunter" is only 16 years old, how fucking stupid to remake a movie that is not even 20 years old! That's like remaking "Top Gun" or something. Rest assured I will not be seeing "Red Dragon" opening weekend.
