Will hates two kinds of movies (well there might be more than two kinds, but that's not the issue) One kind is any foreign feature animation, and the other is the skate movie. So when i heard Fincher might direct the story of the Zepher boys i knew Will must not be thrilled. Here's the article I don't know if they should really make this movie though. Its gonna be hard to recreate POP and dogtown. I guess i'm just gonna be critical of the sets in the movie because i've become so fascinated with old Los Angeles historical photos and places. Well if any director can pull off the look and feel of a dirty and destroyed dogtown it's gonna be Fincher. I'm just thinking about the paper street house with old school los angeles grafitti all over it. Well lets hope this does happen.

Dave, I don't hate any genre of movies. I don't like films that have nothing going for them other than a cool look (which IMO describes most anime films, and things like The Nightmare Before Xmas and shit like that). A movie has to have a good story, have good characters, good dialogue, good direction, etc... it can't just be "yeah, but its drawn so cool!" or whatever. As for "skate movies", the term "movie" is used VERY loosely. Those are highlight reels set to music that you're always trying to show me, not movies. About the only skate movie I know of is "Gleaming the Cube" (aka "Brotherhood Justice") and that movie is great in a cheesy 80s kind of way. But videos like "Crap" or whatever, that are just a bunch of guys riding around while The Circle Jerks play in the background is not a movie. There's no actors, no story, nothing, its just skating highlights. Those are as boring to me as it would be to sit around and watch golfing highlights set to music. I will continue to be excited about anything Fincher directs, so I'm looking forward to this new movie, cause I know he wouldn't be doing it if there wasn't a good story or good characters or both in it. In summation, I generally hate movies that substitute substance with style. I prefer movies that have both, but if its a question of which is more important, I'd rather a film be good than just look good. This is why anime, John Woo, Michael Bay and to some extent, Tim Burton (with the exception mainly of Ed Wood) really don't hold any interest for me.
