Just like everybody else out there i have a HUGE collection of MP3s. I've rip'ed all of the CD's i ever bought and put them on a file server where i can hit random and play music all day long. So everything is great. I have my MP3 player that i can plug into my USB port and move files around. I then take it in the car with me. So whats the problem? I have a great system in my living room that is just a little out of reach. Well it's not out of reach, but i'm just sick of the old method. I used to hook up my powerbook out in the living room and then run all my music there via my WiFi network. That's just a pain in the ass. I want a solution that's a little more easy. And i think i've got it. I've got a Playstation 2 in the livingroom. It's got all the power and network capabilities that i need. So here's the catch... who out there knows of a way to build a mp3 player for PS2? Assume that you have got a network connection to a LAN on which there is another server with all the MP3's. I'd like to be able to push a playlist to the PS2 from a remote location and i'd like to be able to control playback from both the console and from other client applications on the LAN. i know it can be done, but i also know that there have to be a load of hoops that you have to jump through. Well just a thought.

Can prolly whip up a player in a matter of minutes at that point. Otherwise good fukkin luck my man. It would be easier to get your GBA to drive you to work I think. Oh wait, you don't drive to work ;-)

Dave, don't you have a spare computer you could use for this? What happened to your old Linux box?
