Am i the only one who can't stand to listen to Jerry Falwell? I am in the middle of flipping channels and end up
on the news. He's speaking about the 10 commandments monument that has just been removed from a
courthouse. For a moment I honestly want to hear what he has to say. But then i remember he's Falwell.
He's an icon of religion in this country, so he has a reputation to uphold. He's never going to deviate from the
opinion he already holds. So i listen for about 45 seconds and then can't take any more. He says that this is a
nation under God and that any student of history can tell you that this is has always been a Christian nation.
He argues that over the last 40 years there has been a fight to remove GOD and Christianity from Government
in this country. I don't really know what he says after this cause I'm already rolling my eyes and extending my
finger to the TV's power button.
This nation has always been very close to religion. All nations and all cultures have their beliefs and rituals. Its part of being HUMAN. BUT we had some very intelligent people leading the way for this country. We don't need the history lesson, we know why they did what they did. They wanted to see a government that did not impose religious belief onto its own people.
They knew exactly what they DIDN'T want. They did not want a king or a queen They didn't want that one person telling them what to do and what to believe. So what do you get? A separation of church and state and a government that divided the power.
Ok is this rant long enough now?
i should have listened to Will...
Just don't watch TV.
