before the matrix they ran ads. go figure. for some reason now its ok to run even more fuckin advertising inside a movie theater. Now even worse is the fact that they ran an ad against movie and music piracy. Here's the rationale. A stuntman does a stunt for a movie. he risks his life. the movie gets made and then gets pirated. You should not do this because its disrespectful to the stuntman. Hows that for movie studio logic.

here's my response to your fuckin ad campaign.

I will always support good music, good literature and good movies. I WILL NOT SUPPORT SHIT. So that means if i pay $10 for a movie ticket i EXPECT YOU TO RESPECT ME. Don't show me 15 minutes of advertising for PEPSI. I could give a fuck less about the LA TIMES. I have already been bombarded by your shitty ad campaigns. IN SOME CASES I WORKED ON THEM! Let me watch your fuckin movie. If i like it, i will tell other people to go see it. If i like anything i will tell other people. Thats the way this works. Take the money from all your shitty ad campaigns and make a better product.

I'd been waiting to see what all the fuss was about with that anti-piracy ad, and it was funny as hell because it generated the biggest reaction by the crowd, and they were so overwhelmingly against it. It was so heavyhanded in its preaching, you might as well have the counselor from South Park tell you, "Piracy is bad, m'kay?" It was interesting to note that while the majority of the crowd booed the ad, there was also heard a few hisses in response to the booing. As far as I can remember, the trailers were for Barber Shop 2, Timeline, Troy, The Missing, The End of the World, Torque, and The Last Samurai, with Troy and The End of the World garnering the most positive buzz (TEotW in particular). I even joked, "I'll download that!" in response to seeing the lackluster trailer for The Missing (I see Tommy Lee Jones playing the same role as he has so many times in the past with The Fugitive, US Marshals, Double Jeopardy, and The Hunted), which got some laughs. :)
